The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) has recognized Wesley Elementary School as a School of Distinction, a designation honoring schools that demonstrate exceptional performance and/or growth among their students.
Wesley Elementary School earned this designation because of its growth among high-needs students in English Language Arts (ELA) as measured through the Next Generation Accountability System. This achievement highlights the school's commitment to providing differentiated instruction and targeted support to ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive academically.
"We are very proud that Wesley was named a School of Distinction," said Middletown Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Vazquez Matos, Ed.D., Ph.D. "This recognition is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of Wesley's educators and support professionals. Their commitment to providing a high-quality education that meets the needs of every student is shown in this achievement.”
Wesley Elementary School joins Snow Elementary School and Farm Hill Elementary School, both of which were recognized as Schools of Distinction in the 2021-22 school year. This recognition affirms Middletown Public Schools' commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all its students.
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) identifies Schools of Distinction through the results of the Next Generation Accountability System—a system where schools and districts earn points on a broad set of 12 indicators. As CSDE states, “there are schools in districts that stand out for their overall high performance, high academic growth, and/or greatest overall improvement. Annually, these schools are identified as Schools of Distinction.”
