PLTI

Middletown Public Schools is proud to announce the recruitment launch for its 2025 Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) cohort. This transformative program is now accepting applications from parents and residents of both Middletown and the broader Middlesex County area.

PLTI offers a comprehensive, no-cost 20-session curriculum designed to empower parents and community members to become effective advocates and leaders for children and families. The program provides in-depth training in personal leadership development, civic engagement, and the intricacies of local and state government operations.

"PLTI represents our commitment to building stronger communities through parent leadership," says PLTI Coordinator, Ms. Karen Bernard. "We're excited to extend this opportunity beyond Middletown to welcome participants from throughout Middlesex County."

The program's evidence-based curriculum focuses on several key objectives:

  • Developing participants' leadership capabilities to effectively advocate for children and families

  • Creating networks of skilled parent leaders who can support one another and drive positive change

  • Enhancing parental involvement in policy decisions and system-wide improvements

  • Strengthening parent-child relationships and improving outcomes through increased engagement
